2- practice reading any kind of academic articles or magazines and any other high level writings such as the economics and industrial magazines.
3- Although there are hundreds of books about preparing to the GRE but the most important ones are:

– Kaplan.
– Magoosh.
– and the official guide to the GRE.
so don’t load yourself with hundreds of books without studying them all and instead you can read only one book and it would be enough for you.
3- the third part of this post will be about:
What is GRE?
despite being a late question, but some people do not even know what GRE is or what its benefits are. GRE is the Graduation Record Exam and it is one of the most important scales and requirements in almost all the graduation schools in the USA. Any MSC or PHD student must have this exam and with specific scores to be able to apply to the thousands of graduation schools in the USA.
What is there in the GRE?
GRE consists generally from three main parts:
- Analytical writing (writing two essays for: Argument and issue).
- Quantitative Reasoning (Mathematical fundamentals with critical reasoning skills).
- Verbal reasoning (English vocabulary, reading, and critical reasoning skills).
What is the scenario of the test?
The first part of the test is the analytical writing part, which consist of two arguments and two issues, and you have to choose one argument and one issue and respond to each one within 30 minutes. The total time of the analytical writing is 60 minutes.
The second part of the test have five sections (3 verbal and 2 quantitative or 3 quantitative and 2 verbal). However, one of these (3) will be not graded and you will not be able to know what section of them. This means that you have two verbal and two quantitative sections with 20 question per section. More information about this can be found in the preparation books.
Where can I find the mobile apps for the GRE prep.?
Try this link: HERE.
How long does the exam take?
3 hours and 45 minutes.
Paper based or computer based exam?
Currently the majority of test centers all over the world are administering computer-based exam and only a few centers are administering paper-based exam. However, you need to take in consideration that computer based exam result will appear after two weeks whereas the paper based exam results may take 2 months to appear.
What is the meaning of Adaptive test?
The computer-based exam is adaptive which means that the first section (verbal or quantitative) will be with moderate difficulty and the second one will depend on your response in the first one. In other words, if you did well in the first section then the second section will be harder and vice versa, if you did bad in the first section then the second section will be with the same level of difficulty (or easier) and this applies for all the 5 sections after the analytical writing.
General notes:
- Stay away from the word lists because they are your enemy!
- Read continuously and with constant or increased pace, avoid studying a little, and leave that for a while.
- Do not read in more than one prep. Book at the same time because the ideas of these books will conflict in your mind and result in big problems.
- Do not take the exam until you feel that you can get the required score and after taking many self-test exams and know your level and expected score.
- Manhattan and official GRE preparation guides are the most recommended book to prepare for the GRE.
I hope all of these information will be helpful for all of you dear friends.
Best Regards 🙂
